Overview

Are you looking for the best French classes in the Philippines? Or are you thinking if it is possible for you to learn French in the Philippines? That’s awesome! Learning a new language is all about experiences. It opens your mind and can come very handy as you travel, or even live abroad, having amazing adventures.

But before you can live like Emily in Paris, you need to start by…. Learning French! And this is where things can get complicated.

Here are the next factors you need to consider, where to enroll in a French course in the Philippines? For what budget? How to choose your French teacher? So many questions that can discourage you before you even start. I’m a French tutor, and I’m here to help you learn French in no time.

You may not have known it, but there are many ways to learn French in the Philippines. Let’s get started!

Paris and the French culture

The Alliance Française

If you are in Manila or Cebu, you can opt for the Alliance Française. This organization promotes French culture internationally and offers a wide range of French classes in the Philippines.

Like a language school, the Alliance Française offers group courses (mainly on weekends) and for all levels. You will get qualified teachers certified with teaching diplomas. The format of the courses will allow you to progress in French by following a recognized program taught internationally.

What are the prices?

For the classic 56-hour program, count 7950 pesos or 140 pesos per hour. Of course, this is a substantial investment for some students, but it is the most affordable solution.

My opinion:

Many of my students have participated in the Alliance Française course. A bit like in school, the opinions are mixed. Some loved it, some did not.

Opinions are always subjective and vary greatly depending on the Alliance Française, your teacher, and even your learning group. In Manila, the Alliance Française gets many positive reviews and feedbacks.

With the COVID 19 pandemic, most of the courses given by the alliance française are online. It’s a great opportunity if you live in the provinces.

UP DEL’s extramural language

Like the Alliance Française, you can enroll in courses at the University of the Philippines’ Department of European Languages. This organization offers language courses in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

In these classes, you will learn the four language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) from highly qualified UP instructors trained at renowned universities and language institutes in Europe and North America.

I invite you to visit their website to discover the different programs. You can register for the regular course (10 three-hour sessions) or the intensive course (15 two-hour sessions).

If you have attended these courses, please give me your feedback in the comments, I am interested.

Private French classes in the Philippines

Do you prefer individual or small group classes? There are many French teachers in the Philippines. Native of France, Africa, or even the Philippines, you have the choice! You can easily find these teachers on the Internet or social networks.

Online french classes in the Philippines

One-on-one course is the most effective solution, and is the fastest way for you to learn French.

One-on-one or small group courses have the advantage of being more efficient. On the other hand, the prices are more expensive. It commonly costs between 500 and 1000 pesos for one hour of private french lessons with a qualified French teacher.

If you have the financial means, this is, in my opinion, the most efficient solution to progress in French. A private French teacher willl adjust according to your pace with an “à la carte” program. You will progress at your own tempo  without worrying about the group. In three words: You are free!

It’s also the perfect option for your kids’ classes. They will learn French faster and have fun with engaging lessons! The teacher only focuses on them, and can easily correct their mistakes.

If you’re going to ask me, I suggest you hire a native French speaking teacher or someone who has lived in France for several years. You will immerse yourself in French language, and culture, and it will be easier for you to get proper French accent and intonation, as there are some words that are challenging to pronounce. Of course, you can find excellent French teachers from the Philippines.

Based on authentic feedback from several students, I recommend you these 3 French teachers.
